Hello, Hackers, Makers, and Enthusiasts! How is everyone doing?
We’re back with an exciting update straight from the development bench. Today, we want to share the latest Industrial Design (ID) revision for the High Boy. As always, your feedback is the most important piece of this puzzle.
What’s New? Technical Deep Dive:
In this iteration, we’ve focused on durability, ergonomics, and expandability. Here are the key highlights:
- Premium Materials: The main body is engineered in ABS, while the side accents utilize ABS+PC. This combination ensures a superior finish and better resistance for daily "field" use.
- Smart Layout & Ergonomics: We are considering moving the Micro SD slot higher up and fine-tuning the GPIOoutput distribution.
- Note on Side GPIOs: After extensive study, we’ve confirmed this is the optimal location. To address ergonomic concerns, the High Boy will feature a screen rotation function, allowing you to use the device horizontally so attached modules won't interfere with your grip.
- Top Section Connectivity: Beside the Infrared (IR) window, we are planning to add an SMA connector for an external antenna. We want to push RF range to the limit—what do you think about having it right there on top?
- Back Section & OctoBit: This area will be isolated to ensure zero interference with NFC and RFID fields. We’ve placed an OctoBit logo there for now, but stay tuned: the definitive look of our resident mascot is almost ready for his big reveal! 🐙
